Will Pro 2.0 transfer add-ons from 1.4.1

I am considering installing Pro 2.0 but concerned about my add-ons. I read in the compatibility issues that 1.x add ons were not compatible with 2.0, but wondered if they were already installed in 1.4 would they be converted when installing 2.0? Thanks - cob

Well from the release notes... seems that, No

ArcGIS Pro add-ins: ArcGIS Pro 2.0 will not load add-ins built for earlier versions. Please contact your add-in provider for an updated version of the add-in. If you are a developer, you will need to rebuild your add-in using version 2.0 of the ArcGIS Pro SDK for Microsoft .NET. For additional information, see What's new for developers.

Yeah I saw that, but not sure exactly what is meant by ‘load’ – a little wiggle room there it seems, and wonder if anyone has actually tried it. Thanks, cob

Hello Charles,

The What's New for Developers at 2.0 link that Dan provided is the best reference for migrating Pro add-ins to 2.0. To your original question, Pro 1.4 add-ins will need to be recompiled with the Pro 2.0 SDK in order to work in Pro 2.0. The process is straight-forward and the relevant documents are listed at the end of the Highlights section. Likely the most helpful will be the ProConcepts 2.0 Migration Guide.
