topic Arc Pro - Building Stereo Models For 3D Viewing in ArcGIS Pro Questions

Hello,

I am trying to set up a stereo project in ArcPro to test how the built in stereo viewing works. I have active shutter glasses and my system is functioning.

There are some crude, outdated tutorials, but none that I have found so far get into what is needed to actually set up a project using your own data of stereo imagery, camera files, etc.

In particular, there is not a good source for how to actually build stereo models for use in ArcPro. I have all of the imagery for a stereo project, including camera and calibration files.

I use a 3D visualization program called Summit (by DAT/EM systems) to view stereo imagery with active shutter glasses.

The data I have works just fine for the Summit program from DAT/EM systems, so it is surprising to me how difficult it is to get reliable information to create a similar project setup in ArcPro. Anyone using 3D imagery would need to know how to do this.

Summit works in conjunction with Arc Desktop and has some support for Arc Pro.

However, visualization of the stereo imagery is done in Summit, while Arc is used to create or manipulate shape files (no use of built in 3D functions in ArcPro).

My understanding is that ArcPro is not suitable for production work in a 3D environment in a similar way that Summit is, however, I am still quite interested to see the capabilities of ArcPro in a 3D environment.

Problem is, I can't even get a good tutorial for building the necessary models. The tutorial from ESRI that I have already comes with pre-built stereo models. This is not helpful if you need to build your own, which is what is really needed if you want to do this kind of thing.

If anyone has experience in both platforms and knows how to build models with the correct information, I am very much interested in learning from you.

Thank you for your time.

Just to clarify you have tried the tools in the Ortho toolset like...

Arc Pro - Building Stereo Models For 3D Viewing - Esri Community

but you are looking for a walk-through?

Yes. I can not find a suitable walkthrough or guide for creating this kind of project with aerial photography.

For example, there are fields like Exterior Orientation File, etc. that do not come with an explanation that is easy to understand.

Tutorials that I find reference things like imagery taken from a drone with built in GPS data. I am looking more for a project setup that is typical in the industry, but am not coming up with any solutions.

Perhaps I will have to stick with a dedicated stereo viewing application outside of ArcPro, but I was quite interested to see how the two compared. Just can't get Arc off the ground...
