topic Failure to interpret crs_wkt attribute in NetCDF grid-mapping variable in ArcGIS Pro Questions

We create NetCDF files with the EPSG 2056 (Swiss CH1903 / LV95) projection. For this we specify the grid_mapping variable with CF-Convention attributes and the spatial_ref and the crs_wkt attributes (OGC WKT strings according to https://epsg.io/2056). This allows most geoprocessing packages (such as raster / gdal / terra / qgis) to correctly interpret our coordinate systems.

According to user feedback, ArcGIS does not interpret the projection specified by the netcdf files (example see below). If we add the esri_pe_string, the interpretation works.

Would it be possible to support the crs_wkt projection string in ArcGIS as well? We would rather not have one projection definition per software in our files but would like to stay with a single and generally applicable one like the crs_wkt attribute. You can test with the file attached. Please unzip first to get the NetCDF file.

Sincerely

Reto
