I have a feature class layer of contour lines that is Z enabled, but the Z values are all 0. The feature class layer has a field called 'elev' that contains the actual elevation values. I am new to working with Z values, so not that knowledgeable on the subject and would appreciate suggestions. I can see how to edit the Z values, but not understanding where they are stored. I am trying to avoid having to type in a bazilllion values manually.

Since it is already z enabled, you might be able to use Adjust 3D Z GP Tool.

Another option would be the Feature to 3D by Attibute GP tool.

R_
