Setting the Display Field

Hello, so I think I understand that the 'Display Field' set in the Layer Properties > Display section, determines which Field in the Attribute Table is used for a few initial map and data display situations, including LABELING.

But, I have 2 questions:

1. So it's easy enough to "reset" it in Layer Properties, but how is this "(pre)set" to begin with?

2. And, when I "reset" it to another Field, why does it not automatically change (reset) the Label Field setting?

Hi Craig - Pro just chooses the first text field it finds as the display field - more of a 'usability' feature, and not specifically associated with cartographic labelling i think.

OK on Question 1.

As for Question 2, I guess I find it sort of strange that the Labeling default field wouldn't change with the Display default field -- since it is preset that way. ...Oh well.
