Another idea since you have to use the Excel file as it updates regularly is create a model in ModelBuilder that exports to a fGBD (or eGDB) table, perform the join and work with the data daily. In fact you can schedule the model to run every period of time that you wish - daily, once a week, every six hours, etc. Then you'd be working with (somewhat) near real time updates.

Greetings everyone....I am using a join (excel) to connect to some points in my arcgis pro map. I have gone in to the excel spreadsheet and changed the name of one of the headings. When I re-open my gis map, that heading has not changed. What do I do? Remove the join and reconnect? Thanks for any input you can give me.

MKH

remove the excel file. Fix it up, then use the Excel To Table file to make a geodatabase table. do the join with it

problem is that this spreadsheet will be constantly changing. Probably not the headings, but the contents within the cells will.
