Metadata Editor ignores changes

Hey all, I've been having a lot of trouble with my Metadata Editor (ArcGIS Pro 2.7) and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions.

It is slooooowwwww. There is a distinct delay between typing a letter in and having it appear. Is this just par for the course?
More importantly, it's not saving any formatting changes. No underlines, no bullets, nothing. The box in question has a lot of text in it, to be fair, but it won't let me even de-format the one line that actually got underlined.
I've also had issues where it doesn't save old or new text. I just deleted a large block of text, pressed Save, and it re-appeared.

Is this behavior normal?

I recommend updating Pro, there has been a lot of work fixing memory management in general and metadata editing in particular over the last three years. Do you have a reason to run 2.7?

Not a real one; it's just a huge pain to get IT to update it for me.
