topic 3D object feature layer not supported? in ArcGIS Pro Questions

We have a development server with Enterprise 10.8.1 enabled that we built last summer. All has been going well with publishing to the portal with 3D multipatch layers. However, since the latest patches were applied to ArcGIS Pro (2.8.3), we receive the following error when sharing a web scene: "3D object feature layer are not supported". The whole purpose of utilizing ArcPro was to publish 3D data directly to the portal.

What has changed? Other than go the round-about way of creating a Scene Layer Package and publishing that, is there some other setting we need to change now?
