Splitting before the spatial join would introduce new features. The spatial join would persist with the original features. Split first, then try the spatial join

Hello!

I have been working with a spatial join feature that combines points along with street data. The spatial join succeeded but I wanted to split the layer along census blocks. However, while the spilt tool worked, whenever I clicked on the new features created, they didn't contain any of the data from the spatial join. I checked the tables as well and I can't find what went wrong. Was there a setting to preserve the data that I neglected to note when I ran the split tool?

Thank you!
