I decided it made sense to update the actual table field aliases, for obvious reasons.</P><P>Updating the table aliases does NOT change the appearance of the field aliases in the layers in the map.</P><P><STRONG>Is there any way I can swap out the <EM>layer</EM> field aliases for the <EM>actual table</EM> field aliases?</STRONG></P><P>In ArcMap Desktop, removing the layer, then selecting "undo" (i.e, readding the layer) did the trick.
