Hi, maybe I done something wrong but, with map series I have questions.

I make a basic map and layout. When I try to change my query, in my page series polygons, it's take forever to accept the change. Have to do it many time before the change is ok.

The problem after that is that the map series doesn't change. I have to close the aprx an open it again to see the change applied. Maybe I doesn't wait enough?

Do you have caching turned off for that layer?

If you aren't seeing the change right away, you may need to refresh the map series.
