Hi. I'm using ArcGIS Pro, version 1.2. In the Contents window, I am working with 4 different shapefiles. I have used the Selection tool to select several features. I want to create a new layer from the selected features. In previous versions of ArcGIS, I could right-click on the shapefile listed in Contents, go to Selection, and several options would appear ('Zoom to Selection', 'Pan to Selection', etc., including an option to 'Create Layer from Selected Features' (approximate wording).

This option does not appear for any of the Shapefiles I am using. How do I 'create a layer from selected features'?

Thanks for your help.

Hi Donald,

The functionality in ArcGIS Pro is a little different than ArcMap. Most signs want to point you towards using the Copy Features tool to make a new feature class (which many of us do not want to do).

Take a look at this tool made by Bruce Harold:

http://www.arcgis.com/home/item.html?id=904786f5db4e4a75afbb2790c7f90d35

It should do what you need it to do.
