I work for a humanitarian organization, which means we often use OCHA's humanitarian icons on our maps. The icons are available in a styles files: ocha-humanitarian-icons-for-gis/02_arcgis_styles at master · mapaction/ocha-humanitarian-icons-for-gis · GitHub . Since switching to Pro (about a year ago), we have had multiple issues that we hope to resolve to save much needed time.

1. We have to manually import the styles into every new ProProject. We have installed the Windows font (using ttf files), and put the style files in the Pro styles folder. When we import a new style file to a Project, it then creates a stylex file in the location of the Pro project. It would be best if we could have one version of the stylex in one location. We have tried to put those stylex files into the Styles Pro folder (under program files) and used that to import. But it does not seem to work. Is there a way in Pro to add a style to favorites so it shows by default in a new project and does not create all these extra files?

2. The other issue we have encountered is that when we open up old mxds or even old ProProjects the OCHA icons sometimes simply do not work. Instead, random icons are displayed (such as a gender symbol or even a snowman). To fix this, we have to click on each icon and reset them (icon, colour, size, etc).

Any help is much appreciated.

Thank you.

Hi Jessie,

We are hoping to add functionality soon to allow you to store styles in your Project favorites. In the meantime, a workaround is to save a project template with the styles you want, and start each new project from that template. See Create a project template—ArcGIS Pro | ArcGIS Desktop to learn how to do this.

For your second issue, hae you ensured that the styles have been upgraded to your release? Right-click the style in the Catalog pane and click Upgrade. To learn more about upgrading styles and their versions, see Manage styles—ArcGIS Pro | ArcGIS Desktop

Edie

WOW! yet another simple basic functionality which should have been implemented from the beginning. This is version .3 and this program should not have been published yet. Get your act together ESRI!
