My Arcgis pro is 2.3, the newest version, but it is too much slow. For example, chnging a symbol for a country border polygon (which I download from nature earth) will take 10+min or totally crash down. The polygon is local file, the same projection.

the weird thing is , when I use the "world countries" from Arcgis online in Arcgis pro, changing symbols seems normal again. Can anyone tell me what is the issue? Projection ? Or the Arctic pro does not recognize my local file? Thanks.

Hi Ke,

If you are working with a shapefile (especially a large shapefile with many features), can you try this?

If necessary, remove the shapefile from the map

Find the shapefile in the Contents pane

Right-click on it and select Properties

Click on Indexes in the left pane and expand Spatial Index in the right pane

Is there a spatial index associated with the shapefile?

If not, click Create

If yes, Click Delete, then Create

Once the Spatial Index is created, click OK to close the Shapefile properties

Re-add the shapefile to the map and try changing the symbology. Any improvement in performance?

I'm hoping so!

-Lauren
