ArcGIS Pro 2.2 always fails when generating a SLPK.

ERROR 999999: Something unexpected caused the tool to fail. Please refer to the error help for potential solutions, or contact Esri Technical Support http://esriurl.com/support.
Failed to execute (CreateSceneLayerPackage).

Do you experience the same problem ?

I verified the configuration of the tool @ http://pro.arcgis.com/en/pro-app/tool-reference/data-management/create-scene-layer-package.htm, everything looks good. The other page does not apply as I can't generate the SLPK.

In fact I first encountered this problem using arcpy (error 999999).

So I tried the geoprocessing tool 'Create Scene Layer Package', and I ended up with the same error (error 999999).

Regarding the arcpy command, and this affects all the tools in the Data Management Toolbx, the documentation is very confusing. Two syntax are described, sometime in the same page (good eg: http://pro.arcgis.com/en/pro-app/tool-reference/data-management/create-scene-layer-package.htm😞

arcpy.management.<tool>() and arcpy.<tool>_management(). I have seen cases when one syntax works but not the other one.

But in the specific case of 'Create Scene Layer Package', even the GP tool fails ( I tried with several multipatch feature classes). I never had the problem with 2.1

As anyone tried to create an SLPK with ArcGIS Pro 2.2 ?

If you have created a slpk with the same data in 2.1 and it doesn't work in 2.2, you might as well raise a Tech Support case.

Hi,

It sounds like you are trying with direct multipatch feature class input into the tool. Can you try adding the multipatch feature class to the scene first and then selecting the multipatch from the dropdown in the tool?

I wanted to follow up on this. I believe what you were trying to do was add direct input of multipatch feature class into the create scene layer package tool. The tool only accepts feature layer input but at 2.2 the validation broke so it was allowing feature class input leading to error 999999. We fixed the validation in 2.2.1 patch so now it will throw an invalid input data validation error. Please let me know if you continue to have any problems.
