      <title>A tool or program that validates shapefiles</title>

      <description>&lt;HTML&gt;&lt;HEAD&gt;&lt;/HEAD&gt;&lt;BODY&gt;&lt;P&gt;I am creating a large volume of new shapefiles. Sometimes they have intersections, lines hanging off polygons, unclosed polygons, etc.&amp;nbsp;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Is there a way to automatically verify that they don't have issues like the ones mentioned above? A series of tools you can use in ArcMap? Or a program you can run the shapefiles through?&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Validating manually by looking closely at every vertex can be maddening.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Ian&lt;/P&gt;&lt;/BODY&gt;&lt;/HTML&gt;</description>
