Pre-set templates not stored in web map

Hi,

I'm working in ArcGIS Pro 3.6.1 and Enterprise 11.5 and we have a Utility Network published as a service.

I would like to make pre-set templates available to 60+ editors of the network.

The only way I could get this to work was to create a layer package for the base feature of the pre-set template. Then I added that to a web map in ArcGIS Pro, and then I created a Project Package for sharing through Portal.

I could not get the pre-set templates to save to the web map no matter what I tried.

I also tried enabling Shared Template Editing in the service, to no avail.

Has anyone managed to store a pre-set template for features coming from a service in a web map? If so, could you share your workflow please?

Editing templates need to be stored in a data store to be accessible in the feature service.

Please let us know if you have further questions getting this set up.

Thank you for the replies.

I managed to store a template for use in the web editor but I get this error when I try to use it.

At this stage I need the preset templates in ArcGIS Pro; field maps will come later. These editors need the full editing function of Pro.

@HanliePetoors couple questions

What is the template? Group or Preset? If Group, what Builders are you using?
are you able to capture the network traffic so we can see what the error is? If you are using Chrome, this is available under View > Developer > Developer tools. Have this window open before click "Create Features" and selecting the feature template. You should see an error - if you can expand it and that error, this should help identify the issue

@CraigGillgrass I decided to start from scratch using the blog post linked above.

The service was already set to use Shared Template Editing

I created my pre-set templates and stored them in a web map that used the feature service as a data source.

Then I saved the Web Map and opened it in Web editor, no pre-set templates.

Then I checked the server logs and I found this:

I was logged in to the portal as portaladmin.

Any ideas?

@HanliePetoors thanks for this information. It looks like the issue could be with the storing of the templates, based on the server log error.

Are there any errors in Developer tools when you open the web map and click Create Features in Web Editor?

@CraigGillgrass I started from scratch again. I followed these steps:

1. Create a new map in Pro, add the UN service (no subtype layers). Stay in the DEFAULT version of the service.

2. Create a preset template.

3. Store all editing templates. The preset template shows in the database:

4. Publish the map.

5. Open the map in map viewer and add the dirty areas. Save map

6. Open the map in web editor.

7. Change the version.

8. Find the preset template - it's there.

9. Click on the map to create the features. I no longer get the error I used to get, but no features are created. At this point I see in the Console of the Developer Tools the following:

The Network tab in Developer Tools has no errors

Does this Preset template have any True Curves in it?
Have you published any Group templates? If so, when you try and use them in the Web Editor, do they also error or are you successful?

@CraigGillgrass I managed to create a group template and get it to display in the web editor. I could create the features successfully.

I again got the error I previously mentioned 'Editing failed' when I tried to use a preset template and the Console window of the Developer tools displayed this:

Good news the Group templates are working. That points to something specific in the Preset templates. This looks like could be a publishing issue - at this point, you're best path forward would be to contact Technical Support and have them troubleshoot it with you.
