Thanks for sharing the link. We definitely need more upvotes for it. I have a feeling more users would agree that toggling between pane and view is inefficient.

Is there a way to have Catalog View in ArcPro function like Classic Catalog, where you can have the catalog tree and the preview options in the same window? As far as I have tinkered, I have to be in the catalog pane to see what's in my folders and what's in my gdb as a tree view, to be able to rename or edit/paste FCs into another gdb, or easily navigate between two different gdbs in separate folders. And then have to switch to a view to preview the data to ensure my load data process worked correctly, and then switch back to the pane to navigate. This is the last thing keeping me from fully transferring. I still revert to ArcCatalog just to save time. Has anyone else figured this out?

The screenshot is of my Catalog View. I want to see what is in the folders: to have those side arrows like in Classic Catalog or Catalog Pane.

To my knowledge, no, BUT there is a detailed ArcGIS Idea here - Offer a standalone ArcCatalog replacement for ArcG... - Esri Community - that you can review and upvote as well. Not a great answer I know but something to consider.

This idea is over four years old and a major version ago. It's still at the "Open" status. Are there any indications it's ever going to be moved into the "Under Consideration" status? Could it make in into ArcGIS Pro 4.x?
