Can the layout grid be exported?

In layout view, I have inserted a scene of a DTM in a map frame as shown below. I have turned the grid on and would like to export the layout with the grid to serve as reference scale. However, the grid does not export or print. Is it possible to do so, or do I need to create a reference grid as a shapefile separately?

Hi Furgo ITC,

Layout grids and graticules (Grids and graticules—Layouts | ArcGIS Desktop) are not supported for scenes. I assume you are referring to the Scene View grid.

This is a visual overlay, much like the navigation control, that is not part of the map and will not be included in the export. You will need to create features as you suspected.
