Issues with symbology in vector tile packages (line end-node markers)

I'm not sure if this is a known issue, a bug, or [not] working as intended.

When I set up a line layer to have marker symbols at its end nodes, it looks great as a feature layer. But when I create a vector tile package from it, the tile packaging seems to ignore the marker placement parameters and simply distributes markers along the line instead.

The feature layer symbology correctly displays the (red) line with markers only at its ends.

Is there something I should be doing differently to get the vector tiles to only show the marker symbols at the end nodes?

Some symbology cannot be resolved in the tile creation process. Avoid symbolizing layers with hatched or gradient fills, markers along lines or polygon outlines, or most symbol effects. ...

So perhaps it is a know limitation, but contacting Tech Support might provide confirmation
