Add angle for annotations. Allow maximum angle or use more strait part of a line when using curved for annotations. Maplex like putting the annotation where it's the place we doesn't need them.

Have to manualy change to strait and move away from the corner. It's not because it's lack place to to so by itself.

The Maplex team is continually working on how labels are placed around curves and corners. I see that this post is from a few releases ago. Are you still seeing issues?

Haven't try this with new release. Checking that at my next try. For now stick to arcmap since Pro is not yet fully useful.
