Create a 'Points to Geodesic Line' tool

It would be really handy to have a tool which can turn a points feature class into a geodesic line feature class. I understand this is conditional on the XSTART, YSTART, XEND, YEND attributes being present. Sometimes these attributes are not initially provided, but can be calculated through (my) convoluted method described here. Feasibly, a tool could be created to calculate these attributes based on some user input parameters, e.g. the sequencing order of the line, and where to break or close the lines.
