The export options for a local scene are limited mainly to raster options only. It would be great if users could export Pro Scenes to a format that can be used with other 3d software products such as Blender and/or SketchFab. There seemed to be more options via ArcGIS than ArcGIS Pro. Thanks!

I find our team moreso in need of this feature as we have customers who are using 3D data in arcPro and need to export the scene to FBX. Our organization does not need City Engine at this time, we would only need a scene export tool or plugin.

Just looking into this but not surprised to find that ArcGIS Pro can not export its local scenes to other usable 3d formats (DAE OBJ etc...). A lack of interoperability has plagued ESRI software since its inception but I'd hoped that was changing w Pro. Esri, please add the ability to export a local scene as a 3d model with textures for use in other applications like Blender, MeshLab, SparkAR.

We worked on an FBX export tool for Pro, but due to licensing issues, it's on the back burners for now. However, we are working on a feature to allow you to save the meshes, materials and texture images to glTF for any 3D layer symbols of your choice and the terrain tiles that these symbols sit on.

There is also on going work being done on STL for 3D printing. I cannot comment much on that yet. But I do urge everyone to keep an eye on the updates that we are pushing into Pro. The export to glTF should be available soon.

Does ArcGIS Pro support STL creation yet? I'm drowning in all the documentation about 3D object creation but not seeing STL anywhere. My goal is to create a 3D model from a DEM for the purposes of printing in 3D. I see that it is very simple to do using QGIS but not ArcGIS? <sigh>

What about the "Export 3D Objects" tool? Isn't that suitable for your needs? I know it doesn't export the entire scene, just the data—but that seems close enough, doesn't it? The list of export formats is not that short...

Just keep in mind there's an issue with coordinate offsets, which I mentioned in another post—feel free to give it kudos if you find it helpful.

Also—kind of related post HERE

I gave up on ArcGIS because every time I tried to export as you suggested, Arc crashed. It was just so much easier and clean using QGIS.... at least for this workflow. Cheers!

I second and support this Idea vehemently, can't upvote this enough.

I'm the main GIS specialist in our small scientific laboratory, and my boss, being a simple person that he is, asked me to somehow export the results of our, well, mine actually, work (stuff like glaciers, rivers, lakes etc and DEM underneath it all) to make an actual scale model out of it all. Naturally, since I know nothing about 3D printing, I asked him to ask "his man" (he obviously has "a man" to do it) what formats does he need. Ok, so either .stl or .obj. Cue me goinng into hourse of conversations with ChatGPT, installing CityEngine, and then swearing a lot.

Nah, guys, CityEngine doesn't cut it. We already have a beatiful tool with ArcScene (well, it's Scenes in ArcGIS Pro now, but whatever), where it properly displays just the picture I want - the DEM and the natural objects upon it. Just give us some tools to throw it into the required formats, so that I can send it to "the guy" and later we can proudly show off our work with a fancy toy model for the laypeople.

EDIT: lol, just after I finished typing it, ArcGIS finished updating to 3.7, and voila, there now IS an option to export a 3D scene! To STL, but that's just as good for me. Thanks ESRI! Right, I'm off to test it.
