idea Retain Metadata when providing a map package to someone outside of your portal in ArcGIS Pro Ideas

My suggestion is to fix an issue with metadata and map packages not retaining the metadata.

Currently when we extracted our Map Package, the metadata is gone when you switch log ins to a new portal or give it to someone that does not have access to your portal, even if you use the Include Enterprise and UNC Path Data option to include all the data. It is fustrating, because you have to switch log in user/portal to publish.

Disappointingly the metadata (summary and description) doesn't come across to the new layers, I would like to see this working even if you do not have access to the portal.

Re: Retain Metadata when providing a map package to someone outside of your portal - Status changed to: Needs Clarification

Hi @johnjcarter,

Can you please explain your workflow in a bit more detail? It sounds you shared a map package to a portal with the Upload package to Online account option, then opened it in ArcGIS Pro, switched active portals, and found that your metadata was missing?

If you are able to share some steps to reproduce the issue, that will help us investigate further.

Thanks,

Jonah
