idea Document Version ArcGIS Pro Tools Were Introduced In Tool Page in ArcGIS Pro Ideas

Since ArcGIS Pro is an actively developed application with new tools being introduced with each release, it would be nice if Esri documented the version that a tool was first introduced in the Tool page itself. Esri already does this with Esri Developer REST APIs documentation, and it is extremely helpful for people that help manage large organizations.

I realize version release information for tools exists at the toolbox level, along with licensing information, but I think it would be handy to include version information along with licensing information in the tool page itself.

@JoshuaBixby Each toolbox has a toolbox history topic.

For the ArcGIS Pro 3.3 Conversion toolbox, it's at https://pro.arcgis.com/en/pro-app/3.3/tool-reference/conversion/features-to-graphics.htm

We put them all in one topic so they are easier to keep up to date.

Does that fill your need?

Mark, the link you provided was to the tool's page, which doesn't have the historical information. I did find the toolbox history page, which does address the issue. Although toolboxes also have a licensing overview page, the licensing information is still documented with the tool as well, so why is Esri handling licensing information and version history information differently? Why not add history information to the tool as well licensing licensing information?

Oops, copied from the wrong tab. Sorry about that. I'm glad you found the correct page.

I'll confess that I don't know why tool history differs from tool licensing. It could have to do with maintenance concerns or the fact that history gets pretty cluttered for tools that have seen a lot of enhancements.

@MarkZollinger, I made changes to the idea to focus on adding the information directly to the tool page itself like licensing information. Please change the status of this idea since it isn't offered as now proposed.

Unless I have misunderstood this idea, I think it is already offered, although the quick look suggestion would make the Tools help page more "readable".

Take the Generate Definition Query From Selection (Data Management) tool introduced in 3.4. Go to its help page and click on Other Versions and its clear that its not available in 3.3 or earlier.

@DuncanHornby, since Esri only supports a few versions in that drop-down list, one would have no idea if a tool was introduced in 3.1, 3.0, 2.9, 2.8, etc.... All someone could tell from the drop-down list is whether it already existed in version 3.2.
