idea 64-bit version of the ArcObjects SDK in ArcGIS Pro Ideas

We, as developers, are writing more and more 64bit applications and we are wondering where the 64bit ArcObjects SDK is. We were recently told by ESRI that "there is currently no plan to release a 64-bit version of the ArcObjects SDK. ArcObjects will always be based on a 32-bit COM." but we find this hard to believe actually.
Can it be true an if so, how do you expect developers to write 64bit applications for ESRI products?
I think it rather remiss of ESRI if this is true as more and more folks are moving to 64bit systems and eventually all the OS's will be only 64bit.
