Allow elevation web layer to be overwritten/republished

I think it would be highly useful if an elevation layer prepared in Pro could be shared as a web layer to enterprise/portal and subsequently overwritten if required. The general users would benefit greatly from this functionality to visualise multiple extents accurately.

Currently sharing the elevation surface from a mosaic dataset (referenced UNC path) will share a web layer, and updates to the mosaic won't be reflected in the web layer or published service.

Even better would be if this could be shared as an 'Elevation Service' to the enterprise/portal.

Can anyone from Esri confirm if this is on the road map? I agree this would be hugely beneficial and would be a great way to share mosaic datasets.
