Track/display how a selection was made and what SQL criteria was used

Edited. The previous title was "Display selection criteria (SQL) in the Layer Properties window".

There are scenarios where we want to know how a selection was made (Select by Attributes, manual selection, etc.) and what SQL criteria were used for the selection in a layer.

It's not always clear how a selection was made (unlike when a Select By Attributes was recently performed by the current user).

Could the SQL selection criteria be displayed in the layer properties window, for easy reference, similar to Definition Queries? Or something similar?

This idea would also help us convert a Selection to Definition Query.
