Use map layer as input features in Export XML Workspace Document

ArcGIS Pro 2.6.8; Oracle 18c; 10.7.1 EGDB:

When using the Export XML Workspace Document tool, there doesn't seem to be a way to choose a layer from my map as the Input Data:

And dragging/dropping a map layer to the Input Data throws an error:

ERROR 000840 The value is not a Table.
ERROR 000840: The value is not a Feature Class.
ERROR 000840: The value is not a Feature Dataset.
ERROR 000840: The value is not a Raster Dataset.
ERROR 000840: The value is not a Workspace.

Whereas, with other tools, it's possible to choose a map layer from the Input Features dropdown:

I want to choose a map layer as the Input because the map layer has a selection. I only want to export certain features to XML, not the entire FC. Details can be found here: Export XML workspace document — Only export certain rows

Could that functionality be added?
