idea Paste in Place in ArcGIS Pro Ideas

Use Ctrl+Shift+V or similar shortcut to paste an item in the location of the original (paste in place). This is a standard function in most major design software and it is a very useful shortcut. In Pro it would be useful for graphic features (both map graphics and layout graphics). By default, Ctrl+V pastes the item at an offset from the original. If you want it to duplicate something in the same location, you have to paste it and then eyeball your drag, or tinker with positioning settings in the element pane. You can use guides if you're using layout graphics, but still -- much too cumbersome.

Paste and Paste Special at cursor

When copying text from another application the Paste or Paste Special puts the text in the center of the page even when zoomed to a small portion of the layout. Is there a reason the text cannot be placed at the cursor location when right clicking to get the Paste option?

This really needs to happen. It would be so easy for Esri to add this and it would save the users so much time. It's frustrating that you have to jump through hoops to paste a copy of something in the same location. As you said, this is one of the most basic functions of any design program.

With layout elements you have to use the align tools (and with multiple elements you need to group them first so they maintain their relative positions). I just wasted a bunch of time doing this on my current map project.

With multiple map graphics I'm not sure it's even possible to put them back in their original positions without aligning each one individually. This is especially frustrating when you realize you put a bunch of graphics in the wrong Graphics Layer and you want to cut and paste them into the right Graphics Layer.

@AubriOtis , these are completely different ideas and I am not sure why you merged them. I previously explained to @KoryKramer how they are different, see above.

PASTE IN PLACE pastes the copied item in the same location as its origin.

PASTE AT CURSOR LOCATION would involve improving how pasting works when using the mouse to match most other applications. Right now it just kind of drops the item offset in the center, with no relation to where the page was clicked.

Completely different requests.
