you should probably just do this by hand. the align tools work sometimes, but they're not always perfect. i end up having to manually align my parcels half the time because of unpredictable behavior or the tools just flat out not working.

In the attached screenshot, I am trying to align the tax (and historic) parcels to the circled PLSS line. I also want to maintain the shape of the tax parcels. I have tried messing with the Align parcels tool using anchor points, but some parcels still change shape. Does anyone have suggestions as to how most efficiently complete this?

Thanks

With an active topology, the Move tool can work nicely. Just select the parcels you want to move, and then you can drag them to meet that line. The surrounding topology elements will stretch accordingly.

Also, once the move tool is active, Ctrl + Click will set the yellow "handle" to the clicked position, allowing you to align a point to an edge, etc, instead of just moving the center of your selection.

I wouldn't move tax parcels to the PLSS data unless you are certain that the PLSS data is spatially accurate. More than likely that PLSS data is from BLM or another source that is not as spatially accurate as the map or deed data used to create tax parcels. It may be that your PLSS lines should move to your tax parcels.

Again, that is a spatial accuracy issue. And the methods mentioned in the other responses would work for you to move those lines.

Rachel Baca

San Bernardino County Surveyor Division - Parcel Basemap

For alignment tools specifically, I find that using Align Features with the setting "Snap line ends to path" works more consistently than Align Parcels.
