idea ArcGIS Pro Traverse in ArcGIS Parcel Fabric Ideas

I use ArcMap traverse tool in creating mostly parcels and other features, but ArcGIS Pro traverse is not providing the same report like what we have in ArcMap. When starting the traverse from a point in ArcMap that has coordinates, or any point in the map, and then after entering some cogo lines, I can use the "End" arrow in the traverse window and click anywhere while I'm cogoing to get the end coordinates and the Direction/Distance for a quick misclosure check as provided by the surveyor in the plat or any existing point in the map, especially when we have multiple coordinated points. Sometimes I don't have to do all the cogo because when clicking on some existing points, I can immediately know if the cogo closure is good and I'll just end at that point, and then the misclosure report in ArcMap is helping me reducing the work time.

ArcMap traverse provides; the number of courses, the end coordinates field, and the end point arrow that can be used to check for any point in the map for closure in the report

I hope to get the same or similar report in ArcGIS Pro since our County is transitioning to Pro and I think we will be using 3.3 eventually and also hope this addition can be added to this version!

Thanks,

Hello @NabilDroby1

With the traverse pane in ArcGIS Pro you can set the start and closing location.
You can define the location by snapping to an existing point or right-clicking on the map and entering the coordinates values.

Use the traverse settings to enter Set your desired closure tolerance.

You can also consider using the options to force closure or you can simply enter an asterisk ('*') after the last distance to force it (even if you're outside the tolerance.
The traverse courses are numbered using Pro 3.4.

Do your deeds include coordinates? If yes you can also start by entering that location as a point.

We also recommend reading the help documentation and/or taking a course to learn how to maintain parcels in ArcGIS Pro efficiently.

I think the attached recording of ArcMap traverse tool will explain the process clearly the use of arrows to get the closure on any point along the traverse, which is very helpful and I always use it in my work. Most of the times, when working big subdivisions, I cogo sections and check the closure along the way and with other section so no need to insert the same lines again to check the closure.

<video-js data-video-id="6368324104112" data-account="6161463677001" data-player="default" data-embed="default" class="vjs-fluid" controls="" data-application-id="" style="width: 100%; height: 100%;"></video-js>
(view in My Videos)

@NabilDroby1- thank you for the video! It helps a lot to understand what you are requesting.

I have made a video showing a similar (same?) workflow using the traverse in Pro.

From what you show in your video, this same capability is already available in Pro, the Start point arrow button/tool that you are using in the ArcMap traverse is the same as the Set Start button in Pro. The End point arrow button/tool you are using in the ArcMap traverse is the same as the Set Closing button in Pro.

After the traverse file has been loaded, and you choose the End point, you see the mislcose, and you can then click the Closure tab to adjust the traverse. Note in this case the closure tolerance is set to 0.01 feet, instead of the default 1 foot. As mentioned by Amir, using the higher closure tolerance will automatically adjust the traverse for you.

The numbered courses feature was added in ArcGIS Pro 3.3.

Does this cover your scenario?

Thanks, Tim

<video-js data-video-id="6368348165112" data-account="6161463677001" data-player="default" data-embed="default" class="vjs-fluid" controls="" data-application-id="" style="width: 100%; height: 100%;"></video-js>
(view in My Videos)
