I converted the shapefile as a KML and then published onto my Google Maps account where I could view the segment lines overlaid over Google Maps. Worked a treat!

Hi,
I'm attempting to put a layer package onto my phone (android), however once I have validated the layer package to upload it to ArcGIS online, it doesn't let me log in. I'm o an institution licenced version of ArcGIS 10, I'm not sure if that's the problem. Does anyone know how I can get my layer package onto my phone, either by uploading it from ArcGIS servers on the ArcGIS app on android, or if there's another way/app to do this?

Thanks!

I'm not sure why you are unable to log in to arcgis online from ArcGIS Desktop to publish your layer package. What version of arcgis desktop are you running?

As far as getting your layer package on your android phone, what are you trying to achieve? If you are expecting that you will be able to view the layer package on the phone, that is not supported. The phone supports displaying web maps only. You would need to get your data into a web map first. Unfortunately, there is no support for adding a layer package to a web map. Web maps support adding ArcGIS Server services, WMS, shapefiles, CSVs, GPX and KML. In the near future, ArcGIS Online will also support hosting your data for you, creating a service out of it. This feature is ArcGIS Online for Organizations, for which you will purchase a subscription to use.

http://www.esri.com/software/arcgis/arcgisonline/index.html

Thanks,

Mike
