Creating Route Layer for Site Map Directions

Hello!

This has been driving me insane and I'm sure there's a solution for it but none of the esri information pages are quite what I'm looking for.

I have a company site map with 50+ different buildings and would like to create a wayfinding option to give users simple directions (and if possible, the option for step-free directions for wheelchair users etc.) between entered locations. (If it's relevant the map is being fed through to Experience Builder, which is what the end-users will interact with).

On ArcGIS online there is a 'create route layer' option and Experience Builder has the Directions widget but they both use ArcGIS World_route data which only has limited pedestrian path information (not all possible paths are shown). Also, the beginning and end points don't latch onto the building entrance points/polygons I have on the map, so the directions are actually between the closest roads to the buildings which looks messy.

Is it possible to manually add in these additional paths and add the coordinate points of my entrances so the direction feature looks smoother?

To incorporate custom data one would need to create a network dataset and publish it to ArcGIS Enterprise and then one can use it in ArcGIS Online.
