    <description>&lt;P&gt;great question - there are some &lt;A href="https://community.esri.com/t5/arcgis-online-questions/scale-bar-in-map-viewer/td-p/1320957" target="_self"&gt;workarounds listed in this post&lt;/A&gt;, or you could use the older version of the map viewer, &lt;A href="https://doc.arcgis.com/en/arcgis-online/reference/view-maps.htm" target="_self"&gt;Map Viewer Classic.&lt;/A&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;I would suggest making a simple app from your map that may have a scale bar widget option.&amp;nbsp; It looks like this was also an &lt;A href="https://community.esri.com/t5/arcgis-online-ideas/add-map-scale-bar-to-new-map-viewer/idc-p/1576739/highlight/true#M12066" target="_self"&gt;enhancement request&lt;/A&gt;, that was not being considered.&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;Where is the scale bar in ArcGIS online? I wish this was automatically visible like Google Earth. I need the scale and the direction on my map, but I don't see either options.&lt;/P&gt;</description>
