A dummy map sounds like the best approach. Thanks

I'm working on a new map that currently has sharing set to Owner. That's the way I want to keep it for now, because I'm not yet ready to share this map publicly.

However, I want to see how it will look on a private web page with the <meta> tag set to noindex.

Is there a way to generate a link or code snippet for a map without sharing it publicly?

There may be ways to do this using the Javascript SDK and a few lines of code, but if you want an apples-to-apples comparison of the embed links in maps then you have to use a public map. Are you able to create some dummy layers with nonsense data/fields and then add that to your test map? Or maybe add some world atlas layers if you need a high-level appraisal of the embedded map.
