Create Map Tile Package with CREATE_MULTIPLE_PACKAGES

I have created multiple 1GB tpkx files using Create Map Tile Package with the CREATE_MULTIPLE_PACKAGES option. I used this as the single file option will result in a tpkx larger than 500GB. The tiles represent a single layer of aerial photography.

The docs state that these can be uploaded or shared to AGOL. What do I do with the collection of 1 GB .tpkx files to create a single hosted Tile layer? Do I just upload all and does AGOL combine them into a single layer?

For this I believe we need to upload at least one of these tiles, and then import the rest separately.

I did come across the following Community Post which mentions that this can be achieved by doing a REST API call for Import Tiles.
