Edit tracking not recording date on hosted feature layer

I have enabled "Keep track of who edited the data (editor name, date and time)" in the Settings on a hosted feature layer. However, it only created an attribute for Creator. Should there not also be an attribute created for CreationDate, EditDate, etc? Or do I need to manually add these columns?

Edit: User error. Forgot to add those fields in Pro prior to AGOL.

Hi @AmyAlford,

When you enable "Keep track of who edited the data (editor name, date and time)" in the Settings for the layer, it should add 4 new fields:

Where are you looking at the attributes? If you are looking in a table, you may need to check to make each of those fields is visible.

All fields were visible, yet the only field created was Creator. I enabled tracking via Pro, added the fields and then re-shared to AGOL. This was the only solution. I did think that when enabling edit tracking via AGOL it would have added those fields automatically?

Hi Emily,

I am experiencing a similar issue.

In my the option menu of my feature layer, I have checked the box, "Keep track of who edited the data (editor name, date and time)." The fields you mentioned have been automatically added.

However, whenever I add a point using the editor widget in my ESRI JS Maps SDK app or in a basic web map, nothing gets recorded. I would love to have the date be recorded automatically.

Yes, the CreationDate and EditDate should populate automatically. If they don't populate, then something is not working correctly. Happy to take a look at your map if you can share a link.

Hi @Josh-R,

Yes, I saw the problem in the map that you linked at first...The initial Editor tracking fields are not being automatically populated as they should.

However, upon second glance, I see that there are two sets of Editor tracking fields. The second set seems to be working as expected.

You may need to make those columns visible in the table in order to see them. In those fields, we see the date fields are populated. The Editor and Creator fields should populate when users are signed in, however, since the map is shared publicly, and users don't need to sign in, they don't capture any information. The Edit date and Creation date fields are populating as expected.

If you continue to have problems with this in the future, I recommend that you reach out to tech support to log a ticket so that they can help with troubleshooting.
