Hi @LIZDean,

When you say 'template,' are you asking how you can create a new empty dataset that uses the same schema as the one in your existing webmap? If so you have some options. Editable feature layers can be created in ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Enterprise, or ArcGIS Pro . In ArcGIS Online, one option is to create a new item (feature layer) in ArcGIS Online using the existing layer as your template:

I have a web map that contains some layers that are used with a field map project.

How do I turn this into a template that can be reused?

If I add it into a web map and rename and save, the layers are still pointing to the layers from the original project and as such if I edit the data, in either, it reflects in both.

There isn't an easy out-the-box way to do this. Which, IMO is madness. However, we have developed a successful way of achieving it by using the python "clone_items" functionality. Whilst it is designed to transfer content from one portal to another, it works fine if the source and target portal are the same
