How can I change the order of Domain lists?

I keep changing the GDB, then republishing the service, but the Domains never seem to respect the order change. The field wants the drop downs grouped and I can find no way to make it happen.

I tried to change the GDB and republish - nope.

I tried rebuilding the entire map - nope.

I tried editing the service definition - nope.

Plus in the domain interface you cannot reorder you must retype them all in.

How can I get the order to be what I want?

Thanks for the post on this - I was able to reorder domains at this endpoint: https://services<#>.arcgis.com/<OrgID>/ArcGIS/rest/admin/services/<serviceName>/FeatureServer/0/updateDefinition, modifying the steps here to reorder the domains instead of adding a new one: How To: Add coded value domains to a hosted feature service from a REST endpoint

Did you ever find out the solution for this? I have to manually re-arrange the list by going to ArcGIS online -- layer -- data tab -- fields then dragging domains here. This isn't too painful, but when you found out there's 50+ to do this for I am hoping to find a way prevent this going forward. I even updated to latest Pro but still has this issue 4 years later.

I'm not sure if this is what you're looking for, but I think you can click the domain description header to sort it alphabetically, then check the "Save sorted order?" checkbox.

I remember there being some surprising limitations to that functionality, so keep an eye out for weird stuff.

Such as: Domains View — Indicate that saving sorting only applies to sorting the descriptions, not the codes

I have tried sorting then saving as suggested by Bud. I have tried using the Sort Coded Value Domain tool.

The changes do not stick.

EDIT: not sure exactly what did it. but I closed the field and domain tabs and ran the Sort tool again. that did the trick
