Create joined view layer error

Hi, does anyone know if there is any documentation for this create joined view layer option in ArcGIS Online. I've tried creating a number of different joined view layers with no success so far. I get the error 'try again later'.

"Create a joined hosted feature layer view

A joined hosted feature layer view allows you to combine data from two different sublayers in a hosted feature or table layer based on a relationship between nonspatial attributes in each layer."
