Hello, please forgive me, I'm a beginner at this!

I am trying to make a web map that is useable in Field Maps, and may be taken offline. On this web map, I would like to have layers that display data that is hosted on our own servers. Right now, all I am able to figure out how to do is to publish the data to Esri's servers.

I know that it is possible to view and edit "Hosted Feature Layers" in ArcGIS Pro, and I know that these layers are available for offline use in Field Maps. However, I don't know how to include layers that reference data that isn't hosted on Esri's servers.

I have seen references to it on Esri's info pages, it may be called a "traditional" feature service as opposed to a "hosted" feature service.

Please, please let me know if you can give me any information on this, I would really appreciate any help!

Thank you,

Christina

Hi,

You will need to publish data to a standalone ArcGIS Server, or a federated ArcGIS Server (as part of ArcGIS Enterprise). Then you can 'host' it in your own ArcGIS Enterprise Data Store, or published it referenced from an enterprise geodatabase.

https://enterprise.arcgis.com/en/server/latest/get-started/windows/what-is-arcgis-for-server-.htm

See more on different data options for Field Maps here:

https://doc.arcgis.com/en/field-maps/faq/requirements.htm#ESRI_SECTION1_E8AC5340FA7B4F8CBEBAB33125EE101B

Generally, if you are considering ArcGIS Server, you'd probably be considering ArcGIS Enterprise (and Portal for ArcGIS), where you kind-of 'host' ArcGIS Online on your own infrastructure. Fieldworkers login to your portal, not ArcGIS Online.. You could connect ArcGIS Server/Enterprise to ArcGIS Online (collaboration).
All these considerations are best discussed with your Esri rep, who will be able to discuss the context of your workflows and requirements against the products, costs and setup required.

Cheers
