topic Best Practice for Linking To and Embedding Content in ArcGIS Online Questions

I watched a technical session from the 2021 Developer Summit related to ArcGIS Dashboards. There was a slide near the end, where the speaker stated something about when linking to content, to use the www.arcgis.com url instead of org-slug.maps.arcgis.com. It was in the context of better performance or high usage apps.

Can anyone elaborate on why this is a recommendation, or provide a link to any Esri docs?

I'm assuming this advice would also apply to embedding content from ArcGIS Online on an outside website.

I'm also wondering how this applies to a dashboard my organization has. It is essentially a bunch of tabs that are each an embedded dashboard app. But the url uses the org-slug.maps.arcgis.com structure instead of www.arcgis.com. I'm wondering if we should update it, and if so, if we would experience any performance improvements.

Thanks for any responses, I know this may seem like a question out of left-field.
