topic Sidebar Instant App Copy Link Issues in ArcGIS Online Questions

When using the Sidebar Instant App the Share widget includes a Copy Link option (along with Facebook, Twitter, etc.). The Copy Link is almost useful, in that it preserves extent (of the current map view) but does NOT preserve layer visibility (i.e., current On / Off settings). Not only does it not preserve the layer visibility, it overrides the map's default visibility settings turning ALL of the layers On. Surely this can't be by design. I've tested this on a couple of different Web Maps with the same (undesirable) results.

Not only does this render the Copy Link useless (who wants to share a map with all of the layers turned on), but it also kills the Share settings in general, since there is not a config setting to choose which of the Share options to include / exclude. In other words, I can't just turn off the lame Copy Link option. It's always included (if I want any Share options at all).

Ideally: Copy Link would preserve both map extent and layer visibility settings

Ideally: One could choose which of the Share options to include / exclude

I sure wish ESRI would rebuild the Web App Builder to work with the (new) Map Viewer.
