retrieve data in overwritten hosted feature service?

Is there a way to retrieve data from a hosted feature service that was overwritten? or a way to "rollback" the overwrite?

I made a hosted feature service editable in the webmap. added some more data (to the original data on my computer) and overwrote the service. There were a bunch of notes that got overwritten that i need.

Did you overwrite the service definition file as well or just the hosted feature service?

i guess i don't know the difference but the data was edited in the webmap and i overwrote it with the data i had on my computer. All the meeting notes that were added in the webmap were not on my computer and therefore were overwritten. I downloaded the service definition file and republished it and it did not have the data that i needed. it looks like that data is gone.
