Calculating the Area of a circle

Hi ArcGis Community,

I am trying to calculate the area of a circle created via the sketch tool. I know that I could use the ruler tool and calculate the area based on the radius, but is there a method to display the area automatically for any circle sketched?

Hi @Owen_A ,

If you are creating the circle in a feature layer then the area should be automatically calculated by the system in the SHAPE_AREA field. The calculation based on the projection of the layer.

However, if you are creating a graphic then you might need to use the measure tool to calculate it. I suspect there might be other snippets available for this but I speak from a non-developer or desktop level standpoint.

If you want to recalculate the area of a Feature (not a graphic) you may use How To: Calculate geometry in ArcGIS Pro or Calculate Geometry Attributes. The calculation based on the projection of the layer.
