Time out exceeded message

I have been trying to upload zipped shapefiles onto ArcGIS online and always get the same message: Time out exceeded. This happens no matter how large or small the shapefile is. Any solution to this dilemna?

I had the same problem yesterday. I kept trying it and it eventually worked. Maybe the ESRI servers are having a hiccup.

I have tried unsuccessfully to upload several files here and to the map. Is there a size limit on what we ccan upload and view?

I don't know if these forums have a limit on the file size that can be uploaded. Perhaps you can upload one of your smaller shapefiles.

As far as the size of shapefiles that can be supported in a web map, it's roughly 1000 features *total*, across all shapefiles being loaded into the map (not 1000 features per shapefile). It can be less features if, for example, uploading polygon data with a lot of vertices.
