The Find option in the map viewer filters its results to only show you items that can be added as a layer to the map (services). The general search of ArcGIS.com shows you all items.

Hope this helps,

Mike

I get different search results from different AGO search entry points.

I was browsing Javascript map templates and used the search function in the "Compare ArcGIS.com Web Maps" template. Search term "fire" produced a map called "Fire and USGS Protected Areas".

I wanted to see this in the ArcGIS.com map viewer. I searched different combinations of
fire usgs protected.

The map came up when searching with the AGO "Search for Map" function.

But when I did the same searches with "Find" + "in ArcGIS Online" in the map viewer, I got no returns.

Anyone from Esri know why?

Thanks.
