So, I decided to try out a trial for online subscription for organization just to test it out and see what it was all about. Now that my 30 day trial is up it has locked me out of all data and map creation as well as all maps that I created even before having the trial. Is there any way to delete my trial subscription and revert back to regular Arcgis online and keep access to the maps I had previously created?

Btw Error that I am getting is: You do not have permissions to access this resource.

...from my trial expiring that was supposed to retain all information once it expired. Thanks for the help in advance.

You will not be able to retain or migrate your existing maps and data that are on your ArcGIS Online for Organizations and move it to personal account. The only way is to renew it by contacting the Esri Customer Service. else you might have to start all over again.

I hope this answers your queries.

We too have found ourselves in the same circumstance. My issues with how this trial progressed are:

There was no warning leading up to the end of the trial about the impending expiration.

There was no notification of the expiration, or information about what happens at that point.

A service which was not using the advanced subsription-only features has been disabled.

There is no graceful degradation. The process of migrating from the free to the trial was very smooth, leading me to expect similar treatment at the end of the trial if we elected not to continue. Speaking of which:

No one contacted us to discuss what we thought of the service, about how we might change from trail to paid subscription, or even what the prices might be.

There is zero information on our account home page or it's sub pages about how to change the account status, like, for instance, how to give Esri some money to keep it going.

We now have data held hostage. It's one thing to stop providing external facing services at the end of a trial period, it's quite another to also lock up the data and deny even the opportunity to download our own stuff.

Over the last 2 or 3 years we have trialed and tested dozens of software-as-service and cloud based offerings. None have been this silent or disorganized (well, some of the beta's were, but they weren't selling anything yet). Esri is pushing this out too hard and too fast, heck even their own tech support didn't recognize the symptoms -- it took opening a tech support incident and 2 days to figure out what happened. We're now on our 3rd day and I have yet to hear from Customer Service about renewing or otherwise opening up the account.

I've had enough technical issues with the whole ArcGIS Online thing that I was already having reservations about it's suitability for our purposes. This pushes it right under the water. It hasn't sunk to the bottom yet, but it's sure headed that way fast.

Chris, Paul,

Can you explain how you have pre-existing content as part of your subscription? When you create a trial, you have to create a new account. Did you then invite your existing user into the account? Or perhaps you were part of the beta program?

Currently there is no way to revert from a subscription back to a personal account. When you joined the organization, we display a strong warning message indicating this, something to the effect that all your content will be transferred to the organization and will no longer be accessible as an individual. Having said that, we are investigating what it would take to decouple a personal account from a subscription. There are a lot of different relationships that can get set up within an organization, like access to the organization's items and groups, so getting a clean break will be challenging to cover all the possibilities. Maybe in the case of Trial subscriptions, it might be easier...

Thanks,

Mike

When I began the "trial" it did NOT require the creation of a new account. It allowed it through my existing global account, and uploaded the maps that I had previously created also. I really just wanted to see what it was all about, it was one of the first days the trial was released and I never saw a warning message notifying that all personal information would be transferred. I know it did so with anyone invited to the organization, but did not during the creation of the organization through my personal existing global account. It would seem that if the organization was able to be created through a personal existing global account, as was the case in my situation, you would at least be able to retain your personal global account with the maps/data that you had created prior to the "trial". Any additional help/feedback would be appreciated.

At the UC in San Diego I was given personal apologies for the clumsy handling by several people, including the director of sales. I felt their responses to be genuine. This is new territory and there are many things yet to be worked out. I guess that's why it's called the bleeding edge.

We have to shoulder some responsibility as well. It's never been good practice to base a production site on a trial service; whatever I was thinking when we put this into service, was wrong. 😉

Hello,

I've received notice that my 30-day trial for ArcGIS Online for Organizations would expire on 9/3, however, I can still log-in. At this point, our organization has a full/educational subscription. I don't need any of the data or content to transfer, but I do want to use the 'short name' for the official site. When activating the account, we were unable to use the desired name, since it had been used/(is in use) for the trial. Secondly, is it possible to change the 'short name' of either site, after it has been set during activation?

Thanks, Russ

Paul,

Just so I understand you correctly, you don't intend on subscribing and you want to revert back to a personal account.

Mike

Yes, that is correct. As I understand, users were not meant to use an existing global account when registering for the trial but a few of us managed to slip through early in the process. The end result is a loss of access to content that predates the trial period.
Thanks
PJ

Please use associated email to that account for any dialogue.

Can someone sort this before I end up locked out of everything.

Hi ESRI
We are in a similar situation, personal account used to open a trial at which all groups and maps are transferred. The trial has ended, we would like to subscribe but here is no means as yet in Australia, our sites that were previously using maps are now locked out and this is costing us $1000's of dollars a day in lost time. Is there a resolution or can the trial be reactivated.
Regards
Jason Clark
