Why does ArcGIS Online use SecureCopy to copy map caches vs. robocopy?

I've heard ArcGIS Online uses SecureCopy for copying map caches and recommends it to others.

What features make SecureCopy technically better than RichCopy (a multithreaded, GUI-based improvement upon robocopy)? RichCopy doesn't have commercial vendor support and SecureCopy does. Is that the only reason one would choose SecureCopy over the free RichCopy?

We use SecureCopy because it was available (or known to us) before RichCopy was available. It is true that we have used SecureCopy extensively and continue to use it. However, we have been migrating to RichCopy for the past year or so and find it to be functionally equivalent for our purposes.

Can you provide any details on best practices for settings in RichCopy when copying a cache from machine to machine?
